Wendy, I've just seen this thread, as I don't get on very often now!!
How sad for poor Murphy, I would have luved to help as I'm in the East Midlands, Retford, Notts. I have got experience with diabetes in doggies, as my Bracken was diagnosed when she was 7, she was insured but I would have paid the earth even if she wasn't insured.
The only problem for me is that Murphy is entire and my girlies are not spayed, as I'm going to breed with them when old enough and health checked.
I have a very large garden 1 half acres to be exact, if push came to shove and my OH agreed, and you were desperate for a foster home then I'll see what I can do
Thanks Jackie - that's a fantastic offer - would your OH really agree? I have just spoken with Harry and poor Murphy may well have to go into kennels next week sometime.
As far as I know he is ok with other animals - his family had a small furry in a cage and he was just interested in it without seeming to be aggressive.
I spoke with my vet on Friday and she mentioned that neutering him may well help stabilise his diabetes - so that is not off the cards for him.
Thanks for a wonderful offer Jackie, hope it all works out for you all xx

Murphy is going into kennels today - his owners can no longer keep him at their home unfortunately.
Fingers crossed for this lovely boy - there has been much interest as he is so handsome, but people cannot either deal with the restrictions of his illness or cannot afford his care.
Am about to set up a fund to start raising some money towards his upkeep.
Many thanks to Jackie for her absolutely brilliant offer, but vets are advising against him being neutered now, and her lovely girls are entire too.
We have taken Murphy to a foster home this afternoon and not a moment too soon as he was extremely depressed in kennels.
He is now just a short drive away from me so I can keep am eye on him and help his new foster Mummy who is very kind to take him on.
Hopefully a permanent home will come along before too much longer as the Rescue, like all others, will find his bills a big extra strain on limited resources.
He has some really bad pressure sores which following his 24 hour stay in the kennels have started bleeding so we are hoping they will heal and not ulcerate. Tommy (my 3 year old lab) has given up his bed for him so he can be comfortable - sssshhh, I haven't told him yet though !
Poor boy, I wish you all the luck in the world in finding him a loving new home.
Keep us posted

Just to update that Murphy still needs a forever home !!
He has raided the bin at his foster home which has needed a vets visit plus he has today developed a severe case of Cystitis. Well we hope that's what it is as he is bleeding big brown clots of blood - I am worried, but the vet isn't. Fingers crossed.
I have registered Lab Rescue EM on easyfundraising:-
and any funds we get from people using this site will go directly into Murphy's account for his vets bills. In the event Murphy gets a forever home any residue will be held over to help another dog with health problems that comes into the Rescue's care.
