Not a big shock that my monthly amount has gone up with our renewal but I think it's quite a jump Shocked

It's gone from £24.15 to £31.61....a couple of quid and I would have stuck with the policy but I think that is a bit too much of a jump

We are with Petplan and have the unlimited for life policy.....but luckily we haven't had to claim in this first year.....so thought it would have roughly stayed the same

The next level down was still too much so I am now on the hunt for a new policy......ho hum Sad

It's like a minefield out there, and I am going to have a look through some recent threads but they change so often Shocked

Aaaaarrrrr.....I just wanted to easily renew my policy but of course it's never that easy is it Rolling Eyes

just a word of caution, please make sure there is no pre-existing conditions before you change, (iknow you said you havent claimed) i did this with zaks insurance, after i had consulted the vets about his first fit, changed ins company for same reason as yourself is thinking of, then 2 months later zak had his second fit, too late to claim as now its classed as a pre-existing condition, so we have to pay for all of zaks epilepsy treatment,

The only thing we have been to the vets for was an ear infection.....which she was given drops for

I've since bought thornit and she has been a lot better with that Very Happy

I've just done 2 quotes

One with M&S and one with More than......they are both similar polcies, with upto £7,000 per year, per condition with cover for life.....and they are coming out at £14.39 and £11.99 Shocked

Bit of a difference from £31.61......plus I can save the money that I'm not giving to the insurance company in a Bailey vet fund.....which I hope never to use

So.....do I take the risk?? I'm going to have a think, as the policy doesn't expire till the beginning of Oct so I have some time

we did just that! Got a quote to continue Petplan and they wanted £37 a month! So with 2 dogs, I just couldn't justify it!

We have taken out the Marks poilicy as it seemed the best of the rest. Haven't submitted the claim for Pascos elbow yet though!! *big gulp*

have a look at axa as well.......(axa used to underwrite m & s til recently)

i switched my 9yr old from M & S to Axa (no pre-existing conditions) as the excess was very high as he was over 9.... £70 + 15% or 20%.

I left Petplan 6 years ago when my then 10 yr old dog's exces would have been 30%

certainly if you have no p/existing conditions it is worth shopping around

I would imagine that would mean that any future ear problems would not be covered if you changed policy - I guess it's a decision to weigh up whether it's worth moving?

I have policies with Petplan and M&S. I am not sure about M&S since AXA stopped underwriting their policies - it's worth looking at AXA directly as mentioned.

I had a policy with E&L until they upped the price to nearly £20 for one dog so now I am with a new company and only paying £10.47 with all the same benefits Shocked I do think you need to look around

I am now with Argos Pet insurance

we shopped around , and looked into lots of policies, and took loads of advice from earlier threads , and decided on AXA, we currently pay £19.01 a month, but this is our first year with them.
