Basket muzzles are better and safer as Maureen has said. This is because they allow the dog to pant and keep its cool.
That is what I have for Charlie. A lot of the time we don't need it, but I keep it handy for the odd occasion when he can become over-excitable and tense.

Hi all. The little dog is fine I went over to pay the vets bill today but they think it had a bit of cartlidge bitten off the edge of ear, but otherwise no sign of illness or trauma. infact it was the little westie who had a bad night as it howled all night I asked if they had separated hem and they said no...ahhh...it must have known its friend was hurt.
So I had a bad nghts sleep but I've put it behind me this morning and carried on as per normal.
Natalie Chester has never shown any aggression and he didn't tell the dog off, he has never growled and he rarely barks they were just sniffing as they normally do and we were chatting, the little dog started jumping but I didn't see any sign it was when it jumped at chesters head all hell lets loose and chester really had this dog by the ear and actually lifted it off the ground...told you it was horrific.
Chester does get excited when he sees dogs and wants to say hello which is a pain but I never let Chester greet unless the other owner is happy to do so and vice versa, if a dog growls or barks when approaching Chester he doesn't get aggressive back he becomes passive and ignores them.
I'll just use common sense as and when a greeting situation arises. at least I know now that he doesn't like dogs jumping at his face so I'm more aware of this unfortunately, and a muzzle at the moment is the last thing I am thinking of, though of course if needs be then needs be, because of course I never want another dog to be hurt like that but I'm not going to put this all on Chester and when I say vigilant I just mean watching behaviour when greeting, I know it will be the worse thing for me and Chester to start crossing roads when we see dogs as we've not had to do that before, he is not dog aggressive.
Thank you all for advice and I think the most important thing now is to get Chester back to the vets and get this ear checked out.
Love Jeanette and Chester xxxxxx (Off for walk now)
