A week or so back on another rescue forum a plea was put out to help save 36 dogs from several pounds who would be Put to Sleep as they had served their time.

None luckily enough were Labradors but there was a Lab x Dally, most were SBT's or SBT X's, sadly for this breed and breeds like them there just arn't enough homes and rescues.

1. Misfit x breed female 12 months PTS
3. Lucas sbt male 6 years PTS
4. Tonky sbt x female 2years PTS
6. Elvis x breed male 9 months PTS
7. Pongo lab x dally male 2 yrs PTS
11. Gary collie x male 18 months PTS
12. Tammy x breed female 2 yrs PTS
13. Tak sbt x female 9 months PTS
16. Angel sbt x great dane female 2 years PTS
17. Sia sbt x female 3 yrs PTS
18. Digger sbt male 2 yrs PTS
25. Ainsly sbt male 3 yrs PTS
32. Jake sbt male 4 yrs PTS
33. Max sbt male 9 yrs PTS
48. Benny x breed male 4 yrs PTS
50. Jacko ABD male 5 yrs PTS
53. Glitzy jrtx female 12 months PTS

Rest in peace little ones and may God now keep you safe.

Please send your love and thoughts to those still waiting for safe spaces and for those rescuers that are doing an amazing job with these breeds.

A Light Lost
You were frightened, but you wanted to love.
You distrusted, but there were moments when - almost - you would rest your head.
You were always on guard, but you dreamed of learning to play.
You knew no one would protect you, but there were thoughts, or memories, of having a friend.
And we wanted to rescue you, to let you know you were safe.
If we had stroked your lovely coat just one more time.....
If we had run with you just a little faster, or more often, in the grass..... Then maybe you would have been able to believe.

We will never know if we failed you, or if life had failed you too harshly before we met.
We will not know if you heard us and couldn't answer, or if you had lost the power to hear before we spoke.
We cannot know if you will forgive and wait for us at the Bridge, But we know that we will look for you.
You, also, are one of ours -- and we loved you as best we could.

Staffordshire Bull terrier

Unfortunately over 7000 dogs are Put to sleep every year in the UK due to people not wanting them, that's reality, Rescue's are full to capacity and SBT's are very difficult to rehome

So sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Please don't blame the pounds or the rescues. These are not the people responsible for churning out puppies with no homes waiting; letting dogs stray; or not claiming their dogs when they do stray (I mean those that don't even bother or when they have a call from the pound because their dog is there, don't go to collect their dog).

*There is nowhere for these dogs to go!* That's why they die. I have tried to help find rescue places for staffies and it's so difficult, often impossible - and that's even for young female, dog friendly ones.

According to Dogs Trust statistics, around 8,000 healthy dogs were put to sleep in 2007 in the UK due to a lack of good homes. That's likely to be lower than the actual figure as not all pounds submit their figures and it won't include those greyhounds that die as a result of the greyhound racing industry or those dogs that are taken directly to the vet to be pts (and I don't mean the ill dogs where owners have no choice).

The dog situation in this country is dreadful Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Stray dogs get 7 days in the pound to give owners a chance to find them. After that some pounds work with rescues to get dogs rescue places. Some rehome direct. I've known of dogs staying in pound type kennels for weeks, months, even years. Many try really hard not to have to pts dogs.

It's a darn good reason to make your next dog a rescue dog.
