Hudson's currently insured on the free 6 week KC and I'm looking at chaning insurers now. Here's what I've found:

KC
£30.90
10k per condition
£50 excess plus 10% of any treatment over £50

AXA
£24.62
7k per condition
£50 excess

M&S
£20.79
7k per condition
£70 excess

Pinnacle My cat's insured with these guys
£23.97
6k per condition
?? excess

I'm leaning towards M&S at the moment. Are there any others people can recommend?

I'm with M&S and our policy costs £215 per year.

We're covered for £7000 per year though and not per condition.

We've claimed around £10,000 in 2 years and M&S have always paid up no problem.

We had 2 years with no excess but now we have to pay the first £70 per condition per year

We are with NFU (national farmers union), these were cheaper than petplan, m&s, direct line and a few others. I haven't got the paper work handy to check prices etc, but i pay about £20 a month, £50 excess and i think its either 6 or 7 thousand limit, and its per year and NOT per condition. The only thing they don't cover is dental work unless its a health problem.

NFU are only contactable by phone, they are very friendly and will give you a quote over the phone.

I went with M & S this year... but my policy was only £15 something per dog.

Funnily enough I've just got off the phone from NFU!

They quoted £20.37 per month with 4k per unrelated condition. I now need to trawl through all the others to double check if I'm right in thinking they're Xk per condition or per year.

Argh! I'm so bored!

I did look at Petplan earlier in the week Rach and I think they were pretty high in comparison.

I'm with M&S and and pay £18 per month for their premium cover.

So far I am very impressed as I submitted a claim last Thursday and had a cheque in the post on Monday. I also found the claims department very nice as I hadnt read the policy booklet and hadnt informed them that my dog had been referred to a specialist with costs over £1000. They just said there was no need to worry and to just think about my dog getting better!.

My other two dogs are with Direct Line and Tesco and I found they took about 6 weeks to pay up.

Petplan's more expesive than the Kennel Club!

Interesting to know that M&S pay up quickly. Although I'd prefer an insurance company to deal direct with the vets. Pinnacle have done this with our cat and NFU do as well.

Petplan are hugely exspensive Rach... for what you got! Or so it seemed to me. I think they quoted us nearly £30 for each dog with no reduction for a second dog. Sad
