Great stuff. I've been using them too and have always had next day/2 day delivery even though I choose the cheapest option too. Great for those who suddenly realise they are getting a bit short of food... (can't get used to how quickly they get through the bags!)

Hi Eve

Has a vet checked him over? My retriever bitch was like that and it turns out she has liver problems so probably most her taste is really affected by this. Hopefully it's not anything wrong of course.

I just know how you feel though. I used to try all sorts of homecooked meals and she just wouldnt entertain them. I think I bought every dog and cat food on the market trying to get her to eat.

Ben my lab just couldnt understand this and what he couldnt understand even more was why he couldnt have her rejected food. Also because of his greedy ways I can never leave food down. He's very good when I am around and he wont touch it but if he thinks he can get away with it he will scoff it all. I always know when he's done that as he looks so guilty !

My 2nd retriever is also fussy but he will eat kibble eventually. The thing that tempts him the most is a raw egg. Lora would perhaps eat egg if it was scrambled or fried!!

When Lora was diagnosed with a liver shunt she was prescibed a hepatic food but of course she wouldnt eat that either. So for the past 18 months we have been soaking her food, blending it and spoon feeding her. The little brat that she is, accepted that and even came and waited in the kitchen when she heard the blender. It is soul destroying feeding her that way though!

This last week my 2nd retriever has been recovering from an operation and I just couldnt cope with Lora's refusal of food so I just left her the special food dry in a bowl and she is now eating it. Thankfully that is working for now but this time last year I am sure she would have starved herself as she was terribly underweight.

Sorry for going off on a tangent away from your original post!

Eileen

Hi Eileen thanks for that - I was really sorry to hear of your problems and your bitch's problems, that must be really hard to manage...

I am going to take him to the vet - at odd times he seems to ahve trouble chewing the kibble which keeps fallling out of his mouth - most of the time he seems absolutely fine so I don;t really think there are any health problems...

But I am now so fed up with him (and I REALLY mean that!) that I am inclined just to feed and then reproduce what he left at the next meal, previously I give up on that because I worry and his will is stronger than mine, but with Neo being so ill and needing me at the moment, I have discovered a hard streak....

But I just want to get him checked before I dig my heels in - I would hate for there to be a physical cause and for me to have unwittingly added to his suffering...

So when I see the vet I will ask about possible liver problems and I am also going to ask whether there could be a throat problem like that poor little rescue dog Molly - it was her that got me thinking actually...

Thank you for the suggestion - believe me anything to get this little dog eating and with some weight on...

Like you I can;t leave food down, Neo will wait longingly by Brambles dish hoping that he will get permission to finish it off, so I daren;t leave it as Neo is allergic to most things....
