Just interested what you all buy for your dogs.... do you buy matching collars so they're exactly the same or do you co-ordinate so they don't clash () or do you have them in completely different collars and whats your reasons for it?
Do you always buy them both a new collar at the sametime so they match or do you just buy a new collar when their old one is no more good so only buying one dog a collar at a time?
Also, do you buy matching leads and matching ID tags or are you not at all bothered whether everything matches? or do you only buy everything matching on one special set?
I buy a new collar & harness for ben every yr as they are guareneed for this lenth of time, after having a D ring pull of last yr ill never risk waiting again,
I buy Red based collars & harnesses for him as this is what i feel suits him, they dont have to match just do the job inteneded to do, I use a black lead as its a double ended training lead & again replace it every yr,
He has one spare collar & thats his lot!
I am a convert to 'Holly and Lil' collars, and I have never regretted the extortionate amount that I spent on Zorro's Harris Tweed as I get endless pleasure everytime I look at him in it. Ida's Holly and Lil is kept in its box and is a constant reminder of how beautiful she looked in it.
If I can bring the wedding in on budget, then the other 3 will have Holly and Lil's for the big day. (which will in total, cost more than 30 times what my outfit cost!!!!)
Whereas all my leads are very, very old and very tatty but they 'feel right' in my hand!
I don't buy the same collars for both because I have a girl and a boy. Willow is only 7 months old so has only had a puppy collar and the next one up to keep her going.
My excuse with Dibley is that as a new dog owner I needed to try all these things out. I did buy the ones that are supposed to be chew proof (Lupine) but he chewed through so many I got too embarrassed to take it back and ask for a new
I also had a leather one that looked stunning but as soon as they get wet they just get ruined, and it wasn't swimming, just wet day walks.
I have just ordered a couple of Dublin collars for the wet days but I don't want them to wear them all the time, hence the spotty ones. I have economised though because the leads I have got for the Dublins will also match the spotty collars. I just need tags now!
Sorry Becs - I touch type and sometimes my fingers think for themselves while my brain is somewhere else, they really shouldn't because they often get it wrong.
