I just went through the online thing for B's pet insurance, £182. The payment page failed and I had to go through it all over.....only this time I forgot to select male and so it came back as £10 cheaper for a female?

Why would they insure girls for less?

That's cheap...Fudges was £249.48 with M&S and I have never made a claim......it's still a better policy for the money than anywhere else though Very Happy

They have 2 tiers now and that quote is for standard.

Not sure why it's lower for girls but I think with regard to upgrading, they (well Petplan anyway) let you downgrade but not upgrade, so it's better to take out a higher level policy and then downgrade to a cheaper one - but check out what they say, they might be different to Petplan.

Angela - thanks I'll check that out

Sheena - yes Basils is the same price for the premier plan.

not sure if I'm reading the standard right but I think that's only £1000 per condition and up to £4000 a year.

I guess in principal that covers most eventualities bar hip replacements? Confused

I have no idea on the in's and out's of individual policies but I do wonder if the gender difference is due to there being slightly more incidents of aggression in males.

My Lads always think it's "sexist" that car insurance is more for boys than girls....but it's all to do with the statistics, isn't it. Rolling Eyes

I wonder that but a lot of it depends on the owner and they seem not to care on the gender or age group of the owner - surely there must be some patterns and generalisations there too.

One more , why is there always 'Labrador' and 'Labrador retriever' listed in the drop down box - whats the bloomin difference? Laughing
