I'm a newbie, but I just wanted to ask if anyone with a field type lab, came across other dog walkers who seemed to be surprised when told that their dog was a lab! It really frustrates me!! He is quite lanky at the minute, and should fill out some more, with a fairly long nose, but he is KC registered and has many ftch's in his background. Most people say he is beautiful..it's just the odd person..one friend thinks he has labradoodle in him!!

What do you all think??

Yep. Mojo is half working bred but her head and longer slimmer legs and body confuses people. I've even had a Vet ask if she was a Border Collie cross Lab. Laughing

Yep both Marley and Oscar are full working labs with a wonderful pedigree, we havent had any comments yet with Oscar but with marley when he was younger we were asked if he was a patterdale!! (i was so shocked Shocked ) then a few times ive had what breed is he!! I think most peoples thoughts of a lab is that they should be fat! as other people have replied i thought labs were shorter legged and fat!!
Some people!

Well I think he is absolutely gorgeous! Elvis has pretty much the same build (even though he's only 11 weeks) and he's from working lines. Very Happy

Thanks guys! I think he is gorgeous, and just how a lab should look, but it really narks me when people ask! I think to myself, actually he has more pedigree in him than a lot of other labs, just he is a field lab. My friend is determined to call him a labradoodle (I've seen both parents, and there was no hint of labradoodle in them! lol!) Rolling Eyes

Sophie is very much from a working line (Drakeshead) and is tall and very lean. Weighs 21.7KG at 14 months.

I often get asked "what is IT?!!" And then the surprised look when I say she is a lab.

My last lab was more from a show line and weighed in at around 32KGs and people asked what she was as well!! Very Happy

I am seriously considering taking a hamster out on a lead and see what response I get. Wink

I have to say, when I first got Cadbury and I went to a puppy party I met a lady with this skinny-ribs lab. Compared to my chunky monster he was a beanpole - I honestly thought he was a lab cross despite her saying he was pure (though no papers), I never said anything thankfully. It was only when I got on LF that I realised labs come in a lot more shapes and sizes than I realised. I'm just glad I kept my mouth shut! Smile

I have the same problem with chunky Charlie. Someone asked if he was crossed with a St Bernard!
