I bought Sam a treat ball - the blurb said it was mental activity for the dog as they had to work out how to get the treat out, it cost me £15. It did not last even 15 secs!!
Sam bless him was the thickest dog you have ever met, and when faced with the challenge of how to get the treat out, did the only thing he could - bit through the thing and broke it - he got the treat though!!!
I was about to post about Petstages toys when I saw this thread.
We've got a couple and I have to say I'm disappointed with them. Luckily I keep them for our games so they're not on the floor all the time. The only one to survive so far is the teething stick which can go in the freezer and is great for puppy teeth. The other two - a snake like thing with different textures and a trianular-shaped thing with squeeky bits on the ends are both falling to bits and stuffing coming out. The latter one lasted about 2 days.
Funnily enough I got one of these indestructable rubber bone shaped toys and he shows next to no interest in it!
Even the twisty rope knot has bits of string falling out of it when he chews/tugs it. He's only 10 weeks old!
Ruth that is a shame about the Petstages toys - I bought quite a few for Bramble when he first came home.
They ahve survived puppy love and labrador love and have done really well - the ones that I bought are still in use and pretty intact some 7 months later!
Bramble if there is a squeaker in the toy has to remove it - he slits open the seam and removes the squeaker. I swear blind he was a surgeon in an earlier life!!!
Luckily I work from home and have had the luxury today of a complete day without any appointments out, so Harvey has been at my feet all day. As he chewed off each ball, I picked them up until I had the full set, and he was left with just a bit of rope.
The toy does say it is designed to fight boredom when alone, so I see where you are coming from, but I can assure you his distruction was well supervised !
btw its Harvey, not Harley - you'll give him a complex if he hears that !
Yes, you were with him, but you easily may not have been and anyone else buying the toy for their dog would take what it said at face value, thank goodness you were with Harvey for the day that day.
Apologies for getting his name wrong, must have got him mixed up with another dog/screen name
Lana has had similar toys and she totally destroys them too I haven't found anything yet that she won't destroy, but may try some of the suggestions here
A Kong is the only toy that Bliss hasn't annihilated. Trouble is she won't play with it alone, but I know of other dogs who do. Especially if stuffed of course.
Reminds me of when I went into a petshop when I first got her last year, and asked for an indestructible dogtoy. I can still hear the peels of laughter echoing in my ears!
