should not have travelled abroad

Just interested to know (because it would rule both mine out immediately).... does this mean if they have EVER travelled abroad (anywhere at anytime)?

Thanks Nic

According to the website, Nic : http://www.petbloodbankuk.org/pet-owners/who-can-be-a-donor/ it says they have to have never travelled abroad, unfortunately Sad

Our pups are too small and Bran is never going to be classed as "fit and healthy" Rolling Eyes plus he's barely at the right weight and on too many meds Sad but they are looking for volunteers to help at blood collecting sessions and there is one at our vets at the end of February so I'm registered to help with that Very Happy

What a shame, one of mine wouldn't meet the weight criteria, but the other would have been ideal for this Sad
??? Especially as the rabies and tic regs have all been relaxed this year.

Well done Peppa! I must admit, it amazes me how they stay still!

It's a shame that Troy can't do it, as he is on Soloxine twice a day.

When he was castrated there were some complications and he bled more than normal. His blood didn't clot properly either. He didn't actually need any extra blood, but I remember at the time wondering about transfusions.

Well done to all the dogs who are donors Very Happy

does anyone know about a webportal for doghealth issues, where you can find your nearest donor, the best vet for this certain procedure and care centers... I searched the web, only found a human equivalent but nothing similar for dogs or pets in general. My Tina will reach the age for blood donation this summer, but I have no clue where to do such a thing...

Are you in the UK Tim? if so http://www.petbloodbankuk.org/ will have a list of your nearest donation centres.

We took Hudson in February and it was easy peasy! All three will be donating in May Smile

I did wonder about this for Dudley.
Can they do it while under GA? The reason I ask is that Duds is being castrated a week on Tuesday and wondered whether it would be possible to take blood at the same time or does it have to be a specialist centre?
