That's one clever car! |
Passenger seat has a weight sensor. If no one is in the seat, the airbag stays off. If someone sits in the passenger seat but the seat belt isn't done up, car will beep louder and louder until you do it up. If seat belt is done up but what ever in the seat weighs less than xyz the airbag stays turned off and it as it assumes its a child seat. Once she gets heavier there's a switch in the glove compartment to turn the airbag off manually.
Unfortunately Ruby traveling in the back isn't an option as there just isn't any space!! ( car wasn't designed for dogs... in fact wasn't designed for more than 2 small people!)
Just hope she doesnt outgrow the passenger seat or ill have to buy a practical car!

How does it fasten on to the car seat belt? Do you have to thread the seat belt through the harness or is there an additional loop? |
There is a loop that clips onto the harness as can be seen here
But we don't use it as we have a seat belt adapter that clips straight into the seat belt buckle and saves my seatbelts from getting worn and Ruby from being glued to the back of the seat ( you can see it in the 2 pics of her in the car)

Is it one specifically for your make of car or one that fits any? (and if so, where can you buy them?) I'd not heard of them before and they sound to be a brilliant idea.

Ruby is modelling that harnes beautifully, think I`d see if Ezydog would like for publicity pics on their site, its a nice looking harness too, Cindy and CJ are both crated in the car, Cindy used to eat thru seat belts with a harness and CJ would twist himself round nad get horribly tangled

They fit any car as far as i am aware, as long as you have normal seatbelts! I got mine off Ebay.
They look like this
If you search for "dog seat belt lead" on ebay there are loads of them. If you have any trouble finding one PM me and i can point you in the right direction.
Not sure if any pet stores sell them, but i haven't seen them

It is a BIG mistake for me to read anything in this section!
I've just ordered one of these harnesses and a seat belt thingy, so thank you very much for posting details of them. The harness looks really comfortable and substantial - much better than others we have tried. And I will be very happy to be able to hide the rear seat belt away, just in case anyone should fancy chewing it...
