No, I am not trying to make out anything. I am simply repeating what is on their own web site.
The words in my previous post are cut and paste from the furminator website - not MY words.
Do you think people should take your word for it instead of doing their own research? Fine, tell everyone how good YOU find it, but don't have a go because someone else actually passes on information from the manufacturer's own site!
It certainly does not "pull out" anything!!!!! You girls are scare mongering!
What it does do is remove the hair that is loose - ie is going to drop out anyway! It does not REMOVE the undercoat! The undercoat sheds and is replaced. As witnessed by my carpets! Even with the furminator!
You are trying to make out that it somehow permenantly damages the dogs coat which is utter nonsense!
I'm sorry but as a dog groomer I can tell you thats exactly what it does, we bought one for the salon, used it a few times and now its in a back draw. It does pull the fur, it does cut the fur, it can cause damage and skin irritation, The furminator was never ment for public use but was designed for groomers, when groomers realised it wasnt the great tool it was meant to be and was actually damaging their clients coats they stopped using it and so furminator targeted the pet owners themselves with terrible results. QVC used to sell them but were inundated by complaints that they quickly stopped. The best way to reduce shedding is a bath and blow at a groomers about every 6-10 months and you using a rubber brush or shedding blade/ring in between.
The fluffy hair is not dead its undercoat, if you pull out all the fluff all you are left with is the harsh top coat and no protection underneath. If you know someone with a border/cairn/norfolk terrier ask them to show you the top corse and the under 'blonde' fluff when you strip a terrier you actually pull out the corse and leave the fluff! The same with a lab fluffy fluff is good
my dogs love it! when it come out the draw and they all want doing! They always look better afterwards and also they dont scratch so much either., Im sure if it hurts them they wouldnt be so keen on there furminator session
