I know this question has been asked and answered a lot... but after doing alot of reading I have decided we are going to get the bigger crate (after finding out what a crate is Embarassed ) and partition it off as mentioned in other threads. But if I may prevail upon the expertise shown here time and time again, which of the following two crates would be better... and why...?

Cheers...

To be honest I am leaning more to the second... not sure why, perhaps its the door combo... thanks in advance for your help.

yes of the 2 I'd go for the second as it is more versatile. Much handier to have an up & over door as well as it's not in the way.

My crate is 42"x 28" and is big enough - it fills the doorway between kitchen and dining room.

1st one is more reasonably priced, so i'd go for that one tbh. Does exactly the same job, only difference is it has 1 less door. But honestly, there is really no need for 3 doors on a crate! As 9 times out of 10 people have crates pushed up against a wall anyway, so the 3rd door would be rendered useless anyway in most cases!

I have the first one and like Jill said, it is up against walls so I only use one door anyway.

personally i prefer ones with non slip floors --- in case the dogs lift the bedding up - or at least put a non slip flooring on it yourself

watch for too big a space between the bars - as little feet can get stuck... or big gap between base and the bars for the same reason.......

if you want a cage that you want to carry around with you - then the weight has to come into it - though if it's left up in your home that doesn't matter

Thanks for the tips Kaladancer, it will be left at home and we will get a separate one for the car (which will be changed to something like an estate now, we had to change anyway but now we have our new family member to think of...)...
