Have just bought the first puppy toy in preparation for our new baby - a squeaky Kong ball - and then I see this post! I bought the small one - should I take if back and get the larger one? I wanted to have something puppy-sized, but maybe not a good idea as pups grow so fast. What do you think?

I have bought both sizes today. I would think that 3 pack of Kong tennis balls are ok for a small puppy, they are the same size as a normal tennis ball, Jet is 9 months old and i will use these when he is supervised in the garden. The larger ones are a great size, and Jet prefered this size, i found it easier to get hold of when i wanted to take it of him. The smaller ones he could actually close his mouth around them..... a nightmare to take them away from him.
The squeak in these balls isn't as loud as i was expecting.

We get through loads of tennis balls they don't usually last our lab more than 20 minutes and there in half.
The cheap coloured one's are the worst.
Never really thought that a lab could swallow one though

I have to say that the Large Kong tennis balls are the best toy I've bought for George. It covers all aspects for his favourite toy. It's soft, squeaks and is a ball. It is also the first 'soft' toy he has had that has lasted. The solid rubber stuff and nylabones last but he gets bored with them when his jaws get tired so he moves on to easier targets e.g. his towel, my daughters phone, the remote or my arm.

Not sure if people know this but it has been found that the abrasive nature of tennis balls can seriously wear down a dogs teeth even as far as the pulp. One article I have seen regarding it: Dogs Teeth and Tennis Balls. Also I believe i read somewhere (can't find it now though), that the glue used to manufacture tennis balls when mixed with dog saliva can eat away at their tooth enamel.
