I'm happy to home check in North Derbyshire/South Yorkshire and can transport around this area too.
Not sure I'll be allowed to foster though as I work 3 days a week (I come home briefly at lunchtime). If it was only a very short stay foster dog then I could probably do it during school hols.

I have got an old lab doggie, 13 years old. he has been with us siince being a pup, has grown up with his lifelong mate poppy who we sadly lost last august. However, he is getting on with living his life and is happy as long as he has his own duvet.
Just recently we recieved an urgent request to foster a lab who had been in hit and run, and as a family we discussed it. The lab in question was luckily reclaimed by her owner, but it has set our minds thinking!!
We are a family of 5, with 3 children aged 11, 9 and 8 years. We had already decided that we would like to adopt another 2 labs at some point. However i dont want to just yet, as i would like charlie to live out his twilight years without having his nose put out by any young whippersnapper!!
But I am sure that he would love some company, as we have my mums dog to stay with us on a regular basis, so just wondered if there is ever a need for a foster/adoption home for a very old lab who wants a bit of company, some home comforts and lots of sleep with our charlie! Because we would love to offer a home.
I work 2 days a week, and am usually out from 845 to 330pm those days. We have a large enclosed garden where an elderly gent or lady can watch the world go by on sunny days!
If we can be of help please let us know. We live in leeds, but can travel around the yorkshire area if needed.
I know some rescues do this, RDR used to offer me money for transporting but I didn`t like to take it as I`m sure it can be used for other things such as vet fees for some of these poor dogs.
If the rescues are unable to find someone who can do it for nothing then I`m willing to do it if available, for the cost of the fuel.
Mary, I was just thinking of RDR as I read your first post as they post a lot of transport requests on a rescue form I help on and state that petrol/diesel costs can be covered if need be and not to worry about asking.
If you can help with any part of the runs they try to organise (without wishing to tell you what to do ) do let them know that you could help with the run but would need them to cover petrol costs, so they can bear you in mind.
I know the RDR transport coordinators - and others - are often pulling their hair out trying to finalise runs very late the night before the dogs are due to leave the pound, so I am sure they would be very grateful for your offer
Obviously with the poundies in particular, time is of the essence.

Have you looked at Lab Welfare in Sheffield, they usually have some oldies who need long term foster homes.
June who rehomes is lovely, but can be a bit hard to get hold of so leave a message

Are you able to go home at lunchtime on the two days you are out working most of the day? I appreciate the dog(s) would have access to the garden but it's a long time to leave a foster dog without them having someone check things are ok, if you see what I mean.
Is it just labs you are looking to foster or would you consider other oldies?
