While returning home from visiting friends today, I drove through the Ashridge Estate (belongs to the National Trust), but this time, I stopped at the Visitor Centre and discovered what a wonderful place the Ashridge Estate is to have a GT. Wonderful woods and very dog friendly by all the dogs I saw! There is a tea room as well. Dogs are allowed off the lead only if their recall is excellent, as there is wildlife such as deer.
Would anyone be interested in a GT?

My OH and I are going to take Herbie there tomorrow for a lovely long walk through the woodland. We'll need to take the Ordnance Survey map with us, as the estate is very big. It is obviously a very popular place by all the cars there today - some people having picnics.
If anyone is interested, please add your comments to this post.

This isn't far from us so we're up for it too. Kaya still very time limited on lead though... guess we could hope for her to be off lead most of the time and carry her when she gets tired....maybe...if we have our weetabix!
We didn't manage to do our walk around Ashridge Woods on Sunday, as I went down with severe tonsillitis . I haven't been able to eat since Saturday evening. Drinking is more of a necessity, but is agony getting fluid down past my inflamed "balls of fire" for tonsils! My GP has put me on Penicillin as my tonsils are in a bad way.
Once I've got over my tonsillitis, perhaps we can sort out some dates to meet up. I think it will be lovely to walk through the beautiful woodland with our gorgeous Labbies! Are you able to do weekends only or can you do weekdays at all?
Ashridge is great for the dogs even at weekends when there are loads of people you don't bump into them it's that big.
We would be interested can only do weekends until end of may then it's half term so would be able to do week days. Not too far from me so could maybe do a late afternoon one after 3. Will keep an eye out for posts
best bet is to get out of the way of the memorial area as that does get busy with people, kids, other dogs,, bikes etc.
and there are heards of deer there that appear all of a sudden only 10-20 feet away from you,,, be careful of the deer seasons etc as male deer can be nasty things wrong time of year.
Other than that its a cool place..... we been there a few times.
On Sun 18th of May, there is a sponsored walk and fun dog show taking place at Ashridge Estate..... a fundraising event for Hearing dogs, The national Trust and Chilterns dog rescue!
Just thought i'd let everyone know as it could be a good day to join in the fun!
