Just been alerted to this by one of the mods
Our monitoring didnt pick it up because the server didn't crash this time, its webserver software (apache) stopped serving up pages !!
Its still something to do with memory though, so looks like we need to do some more tweaking on firstly the monitoring and secondly something to give the webserver program a "poke" (technical term)
Sorry guys, this is as frustrating for me as it is for you !
