Yes, it's extremely painful and the eye is normally very bloodshot. Trouble is, people can at first think it's just conjunctivitis and not bother much. Also very few vets have the knowledge to do anything other that remove the eye. Prof Peter Bedford perfected one way of operating on it and Tony Reid another, but ordinary vets are GP's rather that specialists.
Regards, John

Bandit had an eye swollen shut and she went to the vet. Turned out she had scratched the cornea and needed "special" drops to make sure it didn't get totally infected. It's an eye, very important, not to be messed with...she had another issue that caused the eye to goo up that wasn't a scratch and was determined to be an allergic reaction.

hi
had Rolo to vets this morning and he found a hair growing inover and he thinks that might be causing it but he didnt seem to think a hair could cause that much irritation,he has give me some drops as he said it could also be an allergy and if it doesnt go down he will remove the hair but he would have to sedated.
