So sorry to hear this. Our dogs bring us such joy, and it is so very hard when they go.

Perhaps not think about a pup for a few weeks - just to give yourselves a bit of space? You may be able to think more clearly then.

run free Molly.

I can sympathise, we lost Benn our collie cross at the age of 13. We took him to the vets on the thursday before we were due to go on holiday to be told he only had a bit of an infection. My mum stayed at our house to look after him (we were abroad) and unfortunately the infection was actually a massive Liver tumour, he waited for us to get home, wobbled down the path to greet us then collapsed on the floor and he had to be PTS within a hour of us getting home.
I cried and cried as did my husband and son and we said we would never have another dog, but 2 weeks later the house seemed so empty we went to look at some Lab puppies and Sam chose us and although we missed Benn, Sam helped us cope.

You will know when your ready for another dog. Just remember you gave Molly such a happy life and she would want you to be happy

So sorry to hear your news Sad

Run free at the bridge Molly xxxxx

I lost Coogie 3 years ago, I still miss her so much. I have had two new additions since, you shouldn't feel guilty as you are not and can never replace any dog as they all leave memories and footprints on your heart. They are all so very very different and as such we love them all the same but perhaps for different reasons.

You will know when you are ready.

Thinking of you xxx

I`m so sorry to hear about Molly Martyn, I know its easy for me to say don`t feel guilty because she died while you were away but it really wasn`t anyone`s fault, no doubt your mum feels terrible because she died while she was caring for her.

Molly knew you loved her and she was with someone else who loved her too.

In respect of getting another dog, only you can make that decision really, I once got another very soon after losing one but it took me a long time to bond with her and I think I went too soon, last time I waited a year and it was much better, but everyone is different.

Either way as Joanne said a new pup won`t be a replacement for Molly, s/he`ll have a personality all his/her own and have his/her own foibles just as Molly did Smile
