This morning a huge (but really thin) choccie boy joined us on our walk. After looking for his owners for just over 3 hours I have reluctantly taken him to the Police station where he will be held until the wardens come to take him to the dogs home on Tuesday.
He has played with my dogs before a few times, his name is Fudge and he is around 10 months old. I have no idea of his owner's name or where they live (except it's quite local to me - Droylsden, Manchester). I took him to my vet to check for a microchip but unfortunately there isn't one.
He has a fantastic nature and not once did any of the dogs have a cross word, he just played, ate and wagged non-stop.
I hope he is re-united soon with his family, it broke my heart to take him down to the kennel block at the police station.
Do you think there is any more I can do for him to get him home?

Oh Jo, it must have been hard to leave him at the police station... wouldn't they have let you take him home with your lot? Or maybe you guys are off to do easter family things so maybe you couldn't.
Anyway, only other idea I can think of is to post on doglost and lostlabs?
Poor fella, hope he gets home soon his family must be worried about him!
Oh no. At least by taking him to the Police it is the first port of call for his owners.
I've been wracking my brains trying to think who this could be and the only dog I can think of who meets this description comes from the Littlemoss area.I only met the guy once and had a brief chat I'm sure that was the name of the dog and he was definitely that age. He entered the medi from near Rodeo.
I think the posters are a good idea especially around where you found him Don't beat yourself up you went out of your way to help and I'm sure the owners will be really grateful when they are reunited. Try not to worry at least Fudge is safe I'm sure he'll be claimed very soon.
I so wish we had the room to have him with us until Tuesday but the house just isn't big enough for a lodger.
The dogs have played together twice before about 2 months ago, me and his owner made small talk. I called MY Fudge over and HIS Fudge came too, a few little bits of info were exchanged about his dog. I couldn't be another dog as he is very distinctive. He is seriously tall, with a huge head, a skinny body.
I took a snap just before he got "banged up".
I think I will call the dogs home up on Tuesday to see if has been brought in. It will be Manchester Dogs home he'll be taken to, they have a big rescue/re-homing place so although I doubt if they PTS I want to be sure he'll be safe there. If not I'll be turning my conservatory into a kennel for him to come back to me.
Also adivse you local Dog warden and put notices up in Vets
