G'day all,

Sorry I've not organised any GTs since January, I had my operation and am almost recovered... I say almost, I tried to do a proper walk yesterday and failed miserably so need to gather my strength back up after a few months of recuperation!!

Anyway, Ozzie and I are moving down south in a few weeks time so I wanted to organise 2 farewell GTs. I thought I'd have one close to home that everyone can come to, and then maybe one in the countryside which would be a proper walk (dogs over 1 year only).

The Proper Walk I'd like to suggest, if anyone wants to do it with us, is one I have been dying to do ever since I found out about it. I have been waiting for summer to come back, but I won't be living up here in summertime, so I need to do it in spring instead!!

It's a walk from a place called Milldale to a place called Dovedale. It's a walk that Roo posted about last year and the photos he posted were absolutely gorgeous - check them out in the original thread.

Anyway, I really want to do this walk, so Ozzie and I are going to go and do it on either Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th April. We'd love some company, I really really hope that some of you can make it, if you'd like to join us please post which day you would prefer to come.

Please note this will be a Proper Walk - it's 3 miles each way, total of 6 miles, so it's not suitable for dogs under 1 year or young children who aren't used to walking long distances. From what I can tell of the walk it is National Trust path the whole way so looks like it will be suitable for prams/wheelchairs if required.

Hope to see some of you there, if nobody else can make it then Ozzie and I will be doing it anyway Smile

Ness

Hi Ness

If Charlie's ok then we'd love to come to Dovedale (he's been lame on his front leg on and off for a few weeks)

We can't do Saturday 19th as I'm 'helping' a couple of friends at a lab show in Stafford.

Please don't plan round me though in case Charlie isn't fit to walk that far

We're too far away Ness, but having always looked on enviously as you organise your 'proper walks', I wondered how far south you're moving?

Would be very interested in some proper walks down south Very Happy

Hehehe Helen, I'm moving to Reading - but I have NFI where that is in relation to Hertfordshire, sorry!!! Will no doubt be organising some great long walks down south before too long, hopefully some of them will be near your place Very Happy

Harriet, would be fab to see you again, but you need to get to a place called Milldale. We walk from Milldale to Dovedale then back again. Or, you could probably meet us at Dovedale halfway through and walk up to Milldale with us and then back by yourself? I don't know about public transport to Milldale, I am hiring a car Smile National Trust website can probably help??
How are your driving lessons coming along?

Ness

I will come Ness but will have to cancel a trip out if its on the 20th. I see you have read my PM & I have tried to phone you. The footpath as far as I know isn't suitable for prams or wheelchairs between Milldale & Ilam but I will walk it anyway to make sure.
