I realise this is a lab forum but from reading threads know that some of you have other breeds/crosses and perhaps have friends/family considering adopting an older dog, so thought I would show you some of the dogs currently in foster with the Oldies Club (OC) and looking for a new home.
Details of the Oldies Club dogs can be found on our website http://www.oldies.org.uk/?cat=4 - you can click on the photo of any dog to find out more information about them, but just to show you the variety of oldies we have in our care ...
We have Marvellous Max - fostered in Norfolk
A 9-11 yr old scruffy terrier cross handed into a vet to be pts Other than a flea infestation there was nothing wrong with him and he was taken into the care of the Oldies Club.
Then there's Adorable Alice - fostered in Kent
Alice is an 11 yr old terrier cross who lives life to the full, is good with the resident dog in her foster home and has been fine with the chickens kept in a separate enclosure in the garden.
Then we have Super Snoopy - fostered in Worcestershire
A 14-15 yr old Dachshund who is described as very easy going and who would like to live with another dog (he is currently in foster with a whippet and GSD) but can not live with cats. He is enjoying his walks, but just short ones for the time being a least. He would need to be in a child free home, or at least one where any children are aged 14-15 upwards.
Toby Terrier - fostered in Chepstow
Is a beautiful 9 yr old Cairn Terrier cross, who originally came into the care of the Oldies Club because his owner became too ill to care for him He is a fit and healthy dog and settled in his foster home quickly.
His fosterer described him as a friendly dog with a lovely personality, who can be left during the day (though obviously not *all* day without a break). He can be wary of other dogs when out walking, but is not aggressive towards them. He would suit a home with older children, but does not like cats.
Guinness & Scooter - fostered in South Wales
The lovely Guinness & Scooter are 14 yr old miniature poodle brothers. They are described as a very sweet pair who act a lot younger than their years. They are people dogs, love to be cuddled and get really excited when you get home. They love to go out and have good recall, although you would need to keep a bit more of an eye on Scooter.
They do have a bit of a brotherly love-hate relationship and have the occasional squabble (who doesn't?!) but they love to run around and play together. They are child and dog friendly but cat status is unknown. They can be left for 3-4 hours and are not destructive. They travel well and are good on and off lead.
The brothers are looking for a new home together.
Cuddly Zak - fostered in Sheffield
Zak is a 13-year-old Lhasa Apso boy who is looking for a new home due to his owner having to go into care. He is an easygoing lad who could live with other small dogs and older children (aged six plus).
Zak loves his walks - and his home comforts and prefers to sleep on a human bed at night
Scrumptious Scrumpy - fostered in Hertfordshire
Scrumpy is a young at heart, female 10 year old Collie X German Shepherd who is currently in an Oldies Club foster home in Hertfordshire. She came into rescue through no fault of her own.
She is obedient, undemanding, settles well at night and can be left for a few hours. She finds small children a bit too much but would be fine to live with older children who understand she needs her space at times. She does love to be fussed though and loves her walks She would prefer to live in a home without other pets.
If you are interested in offering a permanent home to any of these dogs, please refer to our Adoption Procedures: http://www.oldies.org.uk/?page_id=3411
for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows:
They can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet them.

I adopted an oldie, called Sweetie (I posted about her on another thread). We sadly lost her just over a year ago, but she was with us for three years and I am so glad we were able to offer her a home for that time. She really was a total Sweetie and was with us far longer than anyone expected
I will update this thread throughout the month as we have other dogs who have not long arrived in foster or are waiting to be moved into foster.
We take in a whole variety of dogs (not just small ones as it might appear from the above photos!). We have had Labs, GSDs, greyhounds, spaniels and many breeds and their crosses
Aren't they adorable oh to have a huge house and bank account
My mum and Dad keep talking about getting another dog and i think i should point them in your direction as an older dog would suit them down to the ground
Oh yes, Marie, please do show them this thread and the Oldies Club site
As well as the Oldies Club dogs, we also list older dogs for lots of different rescues, including others which use this forum, so there are lots of oldies looking for a lovely new home
Lol, another FAILED fosterer, but a very happy doglet
