Hello

I know I have posted something similar before, but I would really like to know what your preference is on either the Halti Head collar or the Gentle leader head collar.

I currently use the Gentle leader and am always worrying it's too tight. But if I don't do it tight then she gets it off with her paws. But i'm worried she can't open her mouth fully (she can still drink etc).

I went to training class the other day and there is another dog with a halti and it seems to be looser around the mouth and back of the neck.

Any suggestions on what one is best to use?
I have attached pics of them both so you can see the difference.

Hi Em............ i prefer the Halti as it is looser and Baxter is alot happier on it and it has never come off unlike the gentle leader. Also found the gentle leader seemed to rub around his eyes and didn't fit him properly. He does have a huge head though Laughing The dogmatic looks very similar to the halti haven't tried it though, as we do fine with the halti which i only really use for training or when my backs bad. HTH

Hi Em, I have never used the gentle leader before so I cannot comment on them really, but I have used a Halti for Meg and swear by it!
I do like to have 50% walks with the halti and 50% walks with just collar and lead, normally the latter half of the walk just collar and lead when I know Meg is a lot more calmer and easier to train, she can be very hyper at times Rolling Eyes but I do feel I am getting somewhere with her she is a pleasure really Wink
As for what size halti what about taking her into the local pet store and asking to try one on? That's what I did and they were very helpful Wink

I have tried both on Toby, the halti wins every time. I keep the leader for emergencies. When Toby went to be neutered they let him chew his halti!!

We currently use a Gentle Leader but I am not 100% happy with it as Molly hates it! Might give the Halti a try but they always look too complicated to me.

Also sometimes use a half check collar for when we have more time to do a training walk.
