I know this was posted yesterday but I've been asked to put it up again to raise everyone's awareness that this is not only your money at risk of theft, but your dog also. These scum will go on any information given and this could lead to sinister intentions on your dog as well as your purse.

Yesterday I received the following message from our Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator:

From East Dean Neighbourhood watch
----------------------------------

Pet owners in the south East including Eastbourne have been targeted by the following scam. They receive a phone call from a company using a name such as 'Pet Care Direct' often starting with the statement "your vet has asked us to phone you because they are now too busy to deal with routine, treatments", The pet owner is then offered annual vaccinations, flea treatments and wormers at their own home for a regular monthly payment. The owner is then asked for bank or credit card details to set up the direct debit. This approach is a scam to obtain bank or credit card details. Please do not be tempted into giving these details - if you are approached in this way please let us know. It is uncertain, at the moment, how pet owners are being chosen.

Hi Philippa

Yes you are so right - by answering their questions you would, inadvertantly or otherwise, give your address away AND being that the call was about pets / your vet, you would also be confirming what dog / s are within the property. And no doubt one of the questions would be ' do you work ?' They then have all they need.

This info could be used by them or sold on to a third party....!

Hi Phillipa how do they get thier info about dog owners etc in the first place ??... These scumbags will do anything for money and it is so scarey that somehow they get info that leads them to contact unsuspecting people with whatever scam they have...

Thankyou for posting this again it is SO IMPORTANT for us all to be aware. Thank Heaven for LF and LL is what i say... without this i for one would probably have been gullible enough to give my details etc...

Trizia x
