Zadie managed to slip her canny collar a couple of times when we used one so i resorted to a halti link attaching it to her normal collar. (In terms of how she got out of her canny - she basically just reversed and wriggled - and she was out - little minx).

I only use a harness now following Zadie's cataract op (on consultants advice) - and this is the only thing she hasn't manged to slip out of.

OMG that must have been scary. Roo has nearly slipped his a couple of times just by stopping and me pulling him along. I can see it almost coming over his head so I can understand how Pud slipped his.

Glad you're all OK

Oh I know how you feel. Mine slipped out of a normal collar as it wasn't tight enough and it was on a main road! I nearly had a heart attack. But she came back to me and she was safe. I could never forgive myself if anything happened to her.

I use a head collar now and she's just getting used to it. She's not trying to rub it off as much now. I use a double ended lead, one end attached to her head collar and the other end to her normal collar. That waymm if one comes off, the other end is still attached to her.

You can get connection leads aswell. It connects from the head collar to the neck collar. and you can use a normal lead.

Oh my, how frightening Shocked
So glad that everything ended ok and you and Pud are ok.

Obi has a Canny collar and he has never slipped it, unsurprisingly as it has never stopped him pulling Rolling Eyes
I will have to try on of those Dogmatic headcollars, as he is great when at training classes and on his own, but walking with the other two he pulls like a train, he gets so excited I'm sure he's just not thinking or listening at all!

That must have been so scary. Glad eveything worked out OK.

Just to give you a laugh I had quite a scare one night last week. Took Max up to our ususal feild in the dark (I was feeling brave!) he has this super duper bright red flashing collar that OH got from USA so you can just watch the collar run round the feild. So far so good.

All of a sudden the collar stops moving so I thought he'd found a nice cow pat to bury his nose in. Shouted him a couple of times and the collar didn't move, started walking towards the collar and still didnt move. I then had 10s second of panic thinking " OMG my dog's fallen down a hole!" (there isn't any holes in the field) and had images of me having to call the who!! police/mountain resucue?!? to get him out. By this time I had got close to the collar I felt a wet nose by my hand. Max was looking up at me as if to say "what's the panic, I'm having a nice time here" Talk about feeling a fool. Good job nobody was about as I was chuckling to myself for a good 10 mins. Laughing Can you imagine if I had actually made the ohone call. I really do live up to my name sometimes!!

Needless to say the collar has now been tightened.

Anyway glad you and pud are ok and hope you have got over the fright

Hi Jacky,

I presume you mean the dogmatic head collars? (With that being the only link)?

You can get a halti link that clips to the ring on the head collar, and then to the dog's normal collar or harness.

They will find it very difficult to slip the dogmatic in all honesty, but better to be safe than sorry!

Here are the halti links, they are only a £1 here:

Thank you all for your posts x It was scary - we had a bad few nights last week the night before he had found something really tasty right by the road over the far side of the field we reguarly walk along at the beach. He has never gone that far over before and his recall failed completely. He got the telling off of his life when i finally managed to get hold of him (which to the lady walking her dog past the field in the dark must have sounded like a madwoman raving! Shocked Shocked )

I really didn't think he would ever be able to get it off, it does fit snugly behind his ears but he was so determined he managed to slip out of it. Ness i'm just glad i realised it was possible now so he doesn't do a houdini when i am away! I will definitely be using the double ended lead at all times when using the canny just to be extra safe! I will also be working hard at getting him used to it so he is better behaved when wearing it
