Harry had just come inside after doing his buisness when my daughter shouted "theres a wasp" it was too late by the time i got there he had already been stung!
Panic set in didnt really know what to do but thought as hes only 10 weeks we would get him to the vets. The vet gave his a shot of steroid and some piriton. His foot is swollen and hes limping around but he has stopped yelping!
Has anyone elses labs been stung? If so what did you do?
Any advice on this would be much apreciated.

I took Corbie to the vets once as I thought he'd been stung as he was not quite right and I had felt a bump on the side of his face, but the vet thought he'd run into something - I still think he'd been stung looking at the thing.
Anyway, he gave him antibiotics and something to reduce the swelling. I bathed it after that in warm salty water and used a cream with tea tree oil in it and the swelling was gone in a couple of days. Vet shaved Corbie's fur off the patch though to get a closer look and there's still a tiny bit not quite grown over yet.

Our Charlie was stung last year when he was 13 weeks - he was in my parents garden, right at the top in the woods with Rosie their GSD - we heard him yelp and he came running out......he limped back to the house and walked through the door and collapsed - his eyes rolled back, he was completely lifeless - we of course rushed him to the vet who gave him an injection and Piriton - he soon perked up and w ehad to continue the Piriton for 3 days, he was absolutley fine after that.......but he doesnt chase wasps anymore!!

Poor Harry
Jack was stung on the face when he was little, he looked all swollen and the vet said was I sure he was a Lab as his face looked like a Staffie!!
He was given painkillers (Asprin believe it or not) and Piriton and was right as rain the next day.

Sorry to hear about your pup, mine has never been stung but friends give Benadryl for things like this. My friend's rotti got stung on a camping trip and you'd thought she'd gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson the way her face swelled up.
Anyway, you have to make sure it's pure Benadryl though and not one of the concoctions that contains Benadryl and a load of other stuff.
Glad he's OK!

Sounds like he is on the mend, hope he is fully recovered soon.
We believe that Hally was stung last summer; she came in from the garden shaking violently and going into rigours; needless to say we were in the vets almost faster than we could say her name (luckly the vets is a stones throw from us); he gave her an antihistamine shot and some painkiller medication, and within a few hours she was clearly on the mend and was back to her normal self within a couple of days.
As for the site of the sting or the culprit, to this day we have never actually discovered either, although the vets best guess was it was in the mouth rather than external. Twas a pretty terrifying experience and one I hope never to repeat again.
Sue
