Hi, and happy new year!

I would like to know what the difference is between Halti, Gentle Leader and Canny head collars are.
And what one would be the best choice?

They all fit on the head and around the snout but are all slightly different. Are any of these slight differences have better affects on what it's like?

Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks.

They are all similar in helping preventing pulling, but remember they are a training aid, not a cure.

You must use keywords and train to heal while using the headcollars, otherwise, when you stop using them, the dog will revert back to pulling.

I, personally, prefer the dogmatic at http://www.dogmatic.org.uk/ but I have recently just used the halti ones on mine, who walk brilliantly when they are not together (without the need for a headcollar), but are like two charging horses when together and this is when we are training them not to pull.

I only have experience of using the Halti and would quite happily recommend it as a useful training aid.

I used it with Danny when he was going through a pulling phase and it worked a treat, he now heels really well (most of the time Wink )

I use the Canny for Pud but only ever need to use it at GTs/proper walks when he is so incredibly excited that he just ignores me Confused

It is good but Pud hates it and does everything he possibly can to get it off including making his nose bleed by scraping it Sad I think this is partly because i use it so rarely so he doesn't get the chance to get used to it. It definitely does the trick but can be a little fiddly to get on - my first one only lasted a week as i didn't manage to get it on properly and he chewed through it in seconds!

Having used a canny on Maj and loving it, Dexter came along and hated it.
We chnaged to a gentle leader and although they are not keen they tolerate it.

I only have to use it when walking them together Very Happy

im thinking of getting the canny collar as it attaches at the back of the head rather than under the chin and doesnt pull the head to the side. is this more effective? Smile

Have tried gentle leader on Baxter and he and i hated it now use a halti sometimes and he's ok on this. As has been said only use it for training especially when all three out together (don't always have it on when all together) ,as Sarah says they all think they can race each other so training to all walk nicely together and am happy to say we are doing very well. Don't use it all the time and if he is on his own never use it. Can pop it on him with his collar and attach lead to collar and not halti and the silly boy thinks he's on the halti Rolling Eyes Laughing

Well just to add fuel to the fire we use a Lupi on Brad if we are going anywhere he is likely to be energetic Wink

It works a treat and lets Julie walk him whilst pushing a pram as well if I am not around

btw our sister shop of Furbabies also sells all of the above Wink

When I know my boys are going somewhere exciting I use a Canny Collar each, and would throughly recommend them.
