My poor 'ol Gracie has been through the mill these last couple of weeks Crying or Very sad

First, she was bitten by a big beetle which clamped onto the end of her nose, right between the nostrils, and wouldn't budge....it stayed on for 3 hours before Gracie, who was getting increasingly distressed, managed to shake it off. I had tried to get it off myself but didn't want to force it in case the beetle's legs, which were burrowed into her nose, were left in there.
I popped Gracie down the vets anyway and she had a couple of injections and some tablets prescribed for her swollen nose!

A few days later her left carpal joint became really swollen and she started limping - diagnosed as a touch of arthritis, so I've had to change her diet and put her on joint supplements.

And last night, we went out for just a gentle walk while her swollen joint settles down and she must have trod on something sharp and cut the bottom of her pad on her right paw. The laceration is about an inch long and there was blood everywhere, so this morning we were back down the vets and she has had to have her pad stitched back together again and a luminous green bandage put on to protect the wound.

She's not come round fully from the anaesthetic yet and is still a bit spaced out - she's just wee'd in her bed (which she's not done since a pup) and didn't even move - I hope this is because of the anaesthetic?

She doesn't know if she's coming or going - my poor Gracie Crying or Very sad

Oh, poor little Gracie, what an awful time she's had.
Why is it that one horrid thing happens ... it all goes wrong? Evil or Very Mad
Yes, I expect the anaesthetic has knocked her for 6 and she'll take a while to recover fully.

Hugs to Gracie and I hope she's back to herself very soon. xx

Awww, poor Gracie, hope her luck changes for the better!

I remember when I lived out in Africa, there were semi feral cats living round the bungalow I lived in. I used to stick twigs down termite holes, pull them out with termites attached and the cats used to love eating them. One cat got one stuck on her nose in exactly the same way, she scrubbed the body off but the head and jaws remained locked, and in the end I had to pin her down and cut the termites head up the centre so the two jaws came apart. She did an' half squeal (cat) but it was the only way to get the darn thing off her, and she was fine a few seconds later.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments...I was a bit concerned when I first brought Gracie home today as she wouldn't drink and her nose was quite dry and a bit flakey... but she has since drunk a gallon of water and wolfed down her dinner...so it looks like things are on the up! Very Happy

That is good news, let's hope she's on the mend with no more mishaps.
