John This is a fantastic step forward ..... Sherpa say's " You can depend on me "Uncle John"
If by sending a swab from Sherpa's cheek plays a small part in helping Future generations of Labradors not suffer from Epilepsy then We can't wait to send off the swab ......
I may need to practice with a cotton bud as Sherpa bieng the typical Labby dustbin will no doubt think I'm offering him something edible
Thanks for posting this John
Love Trizia and Sherpa xxxx
PS: Hiya my Mod pals ...Can i be cheeky and ask if this could be stickied for a time so that all of us members with Epileptic Labbies don't miss an opurtunity to help xxxxx
Very similar to the Grand Mal Epilepsy Colette, although I've never seen the juvenile Epilepsy which some children suffer from. There is actually several different forms of Epilepsy which both dogs and humans suffer from. The word epilepsy originates from the Greek word epilepsia meaning to be taken, seized or attacked. Epilepsy is defined as a condition characterized by recurrent seizures (two or more). So to a certain extent it's a coverall word describing the result rather than the condition it's self. But of course, what the AHT are looking at is the form most normally seen and which has been found to have a hereditory link.
BUMP ...... I know it's a stickie but close to my heart as a subject ... My Boy has just had 3 seizures in 4 days .... Thankfully he's been ok so far tonight ....
Anyone here on LF with Epileptic Labbies please please lets help future labs if we can ,,,Our labs deserve this chance to help future generations
Oh Trizia, I'm sorry to read this. Poor darling Sherps.
Have emailed the contacts listed here and had an 'out of office for holidays' notice, but hopefully they will catch up with us on their return to work.
I hope Sherpa will be OK Trizia, I am thinking about you both all the time.
