After a day like Saturday, where it rained thundered and lightened all afternoon my concession to cleanliness was to chuck a dummy across the brook and let Amy wash her own mud off whilst retrieving it! After a day's work in the field she's more than happy to go for a swim and I have a toweling coat to put on her after, so she does not lay around in the Landrover getting cold whilst I'm finishing off bracing up and chatting after the last drive. About the only time I bath mine is on a hot day in the summer, and that's more about cooling them down than cleaning them up.

Regards, John

Another hosepipe fan here - I know it's cold but Rosie goes inside as soon as she's washed, gets a good towel down then cuddles up in her basket. I don't think a 'professional' dog washer could make her any prettier!

thanks for the replies. Dexter usually has 1 bath a year, and usually before Christmas. Our old groomer where we used to live bathed him, clipped his nails, cleaned his ears and brushed his teeth. Im not bothered about his fur being trimmed or trying to pretty him up or anything, just general grooming and getting him to smell a little nicer at Christmas when we see all the family. And old groomer charged about £15, not bad at all.

Thanks Lorri-Ann for the price info.
I might get him booked in, a hose pipe is easier yes, but it doesnt clip his nails aswell, and I hate trying to do that I never know how short I am supposed to go.
