We have just returned from a beautiful holiday in Cornwall and i would like to pass on a tip that may help other lab owners. We had a long car journey ahead so we stopped twice at motorway service stations for our dog to relieve herself (and we offered her water which she didn't want)and because of the roaring of the traffic we think she was too nervous to go, so we said OK she obviously would go if she needed to. When we arrived at our holiday cottage we took her for a walk on the cliffs and she had great fun playing but still she didn't urinate. She had her dinner (Burns of course!) and a little drink then a bedtime stroll around the cottage garden, still no wee... Next morning, before breakfast she goes out for her walk has a poo and STILL no wee. This is now 24 hours since I have seen her urinate and I am getting beside myself with worry. Then I remember something I read once on this forum Idea ; the subject was milk and somebody said they give a big bowl of water with a splash of milk in it and their dog lapped it up. So we tried it and it worked!!! Within half an hour she was peeing buckets. Many thanks to LF Very Happy

Thats great Chocky, I would guess (though don`t know for sure) that Mitzi did get a little dehydrated on the way down, and that would be why she did`nt pee for a while.

Good to hear that advice you found on LF helped to sort Chocky`s problem out for her and for you Laughing

Hi Mary - Yes she must have got dehydrated on the long journey and she has never liked warmish water! I have to keep changing the water in her bowl as she only drinks it when its really chilled!

That's a great photo of CJ, he/she looks really well trained. Mitzie would have that tent peg out of the ground in a second and be away!!!

Regards, Shena

Glad Mitzie is ok.

Corbie likes his water to be straight out the tap chilled Laughing If it's not he'll go to drink, sniff then turn his nose up and walk away Laughing
