Diana's right with regards to the cats. I've bred cats for many years now and although I haven't had a dog for years (one is on the way and we have four cats in the house) I can say that cats will do what they want when they want!
The main things you must teach your puppy is not to chase the cats and not to bark at them. Cats are great at winding dogs up by sitting just out of reach and staring the dogs out which encourages them to bark. This is actually the cat being dominant by controlling the dogs behaviour. As soon as the dog learns not to bark the cat will stop (probably find something else equally dominant but will stop that one!)
I'd be inclined to just put them all together and let them get on with it. The more you intervene at this early stage the longer the introduction will take. Letting them sort it out for themselves can be a great benefit as the cats will probably end up being comfort for the puppy who would have just left the warmth and comfort of it's siblings.
Be very wary of chasing though - a freaked out cat is not good and cats behaviour can take years to change so start as you mean to go on. Smile

AWESOME OP! I'm going to print this off and go through it with the rest of the (human) family - Kira will of course not understand a word Razz I'm looking for a few different viewpoints to training, I wouldn't raise my kids using one book and I'm very wary of doing the same with our puppy! So far I have the OP and The Idiots Guide to Positive Dog Training Wink

Purpleprincess - I have a Bruce Fogle pocket guide to training published in conjunction with the RSPCA it's about 10 years old and it comes out every now and then to remind me of hint's and tips.
