I was on my way through the lanes to the nearest town to do some shopping, and say a black cat lying in the road, she was only about 2 years old. The two cars in front of my just went over her, so I pulled over to move the cat onto the side of the road, as I know if it was my cat I would be devestated that it would just be left there.
So pulled over, went up to the cat, and my god she was in a mess, but alive. She obviousily had internal bleeding as it was all over the road and her eye socket was not in place.
So quickily rushed her to the vets about two miles away and left her there. Burst into tears when I was at the vets, I am such a woose.
Then went back to the scene and knocked on all the doors, found the neighbour and got the owner details and I went down to her work to let her know.
Just found out that they had to put her to sleep, she had a smashed jaw, and her chest had filled with blood and there was nothing they could do for her.
RIP, sweetheart and hope you were not suffering for too long. Glad I picked you up and they put you to sleep quietly rather than on a cold busy road, with no one caring.
My Tia and Marmite are at the bridge having both been run over at a young age too and they will look after you now.

Oh Tammy..I've been there too, its awful how heartless people can be.
Good for you, Run free little Kitty
WILD AND FREE
(P J Quick)
I hope you're running wild and free now you have gone to eternity,
Free from pain and young again as once you used to be.
I hope you're running wild and free, as free as the wind in the trees,
Playing and purring in ecstasy, or sleeping and dreaming at ease.
I hope you're running wild and free, as free as the clouds in the sky,
Rushing excitedly, a kitten again, with eyes as blue as the sea.
I hope you're running wild and free, sometimes maybe remembering me,
For I know the time will come one day when we'll both be wild and free.

Well done Tammy for putting that poor mite out of it's misery. I'm sure the owners will be grateful for your efforts.
I so know what you mean about cars and cats - have been there myself with my own and just do not get how people can ignore them or worse still drive over them.
Rest in peace puss - forever without pain at the bridge xx
Poor girly, its good you stopped and helped her, at least she was put to sleep and didn't suffer right until the end. Hope you have a lovely time chasing mice over the bridge little kitty.
