Well i'd like to Enter Scrumpy for this. As the winner of the title of Best Veteran/ Golden Oldie for 2 years in a row now, & of course "Best in show" this year at the Labrador Forums big summer GT, so here's hoping he could win the next step & be "Lab of the year!
Wot can i say about him, Well it was him i fell in love with first, then his owner!! So you could call him a match maker! He is a grand old gentleman, with so much love to give, he's been a great friend to me, Dave, "Mr Smiff & Woody!
I would like to nominate my special Lucy Locket for this award.
Where shall i start? At the beginning i suppose.
Lucy came home to us a 8 weeks old, a beautiful chocolate bundle. She brought joy to our whole family and we had no idea just what our gorgeous, bright well behaved spark would grow into.
In February this year Lucy and me took part in filming for 'Its me or the dog'. We went along for two days to enjoy and experience something different. Lucy did me soooo proud and won the IQ test and i was beaming with pride for a long while afterwards.
It always amazes me and makes me sooo proud to have Lucy when she is sooo willing to please me and take on any new activities i throw at her.
Throughout the year we have taken part in many companion and fun dog shows gaining many rosettes for me to proudly display.
In June this year we auditioned for animal planets Top Dog. Lucy showed herself to her best, despite me not preparing for the audition because of A level exams that week.
Unfortunately they were looking for those with foeign backgrounds and so they failed to see how talented me girl was!
I'm going to add a little personal proud moment too.
In July this year we went on holiday to Northumberland, Lucy was superbly behaved, despite never having been on a train or seeing soooo many sheep in one place.
To top off a good week, i received a phone call at the end of our holiday to say Lucy was in the finals of the "Tails of Achievement Awards".
Fantastic moment, i was soooo excited, again Lucy made me extremely proud!!
The day of the awards, Septemeber 1st, don't think i'll ever forget it, was brilliant a day dedicated to dogs that are outstanding and for Lucy to be there was a wonderful feeling.
The judges were extremely kind and kept reinforcing how we were all winners although they failed the place us in the final 3 and obviously my lack of selling myself skills showed and that probably let Lucy down.
But Lucy was beautifully behaved and the day just made me soo happy and showed me just how special Lucy.
Through the Summer i have looked after a couple of friend's dogs, all of which Lucy has accepted into her home happily with no grumbles.
Some would say but our breed should be able to adjust to everything and accepting but i'm including this because they are dogs and we humans do expect sooo much of them. Many other people with different breeds wouldn't expect their breed to tolerate so much. But for me its what i love best about our breed their wonderful temperaments!
In September i started Ringcraft classes with Lucy and at a Junior Handling Competition in November at Discover Dogs she got me a 2nd place!
Also at the monthly ringcraft match night Lucy got me a 1st place in Novice handler.
In October Lucy became a qualified Pets As Therapy dog. We have since visited a local care home for those with dementia and to simply sum it up, the smiles she brings to their faces is enough!
Without Lucy i wouldn't be able to participate in dancing a little doing Heelwork to music or racing around an agility course.
Lucy hasn't been without her fair share of bad luck and has been under G.A four times in her life already and she is only 4 years old.
Once for a spay, once for thorough clean of her ears due to a painful ear infection that wouldn't go away, another time for a pulled dew claw that needed removing and another for a horrid grass seed that needed removing from her ear after puncturing her ear drum....ouch!
I have written the most of our bigger special achievements that we have done in 2007, although there are more and everyday there is something Lucy does that fascinates me and brings joy and a huge smile to my face.
Of course whether we had achieved the above things or not Lucy would still be special to me but they just make me proud to think she did it for me...because i wanted to do them.
Right now my special girlie is doing "upside down rollies" waiting for her "belly rubs".
I've rambled haven't i, thanks for reading anyway!
Here she is:

I already won the lab of the year award when wood green animal shelter near huntingdon let me take home, Winston. They said the last owner gave him up because he was left home alone too long but now I know him I would rather give up my job.
Its been around fifteen years since my last dog, Butch, died and now Winston is reminding me that unconditional love does exist, I see it in his eyes every single day. He has brought fun, excitement, exercise and laughter to my home.
