Oh it's such a shame when they get older. I always feel bad too when I can't take Eliza places because it's too much for her.

I guess Pam knows her dog the best and feels it isn't appropriate to take a dog with arthritis for long walks

Is your 14 year old a lab? cos if she is and still climbing mountains that's amazing and well done

Hi ,she is mostly lab
Her mum was a labrador her dad looked like a labrador but one of his parents or grandparents was a labrador x b/c
She did have arthritis and was under treatment from the vet but we found if we kept her slim she showed very few symptoms?
For over 2 years now she has been as fit as a fiddle ,we are so proud of her!

I had a lab cross who looked like a lab mum lab, dad half lab and he lived to the grand old age of 17 and up until a year before he went i was taking him everywhere, although he had slowed down alot and i took each day and acted on how he was feeling.. Whereas my lab Brooke at the age of 12 really slower up and she was happy to just plod Wink They are all different just like us i suppose some are fighting fit and some get slowed down by sore joints we have to adapt to their needs.
Would love to come to a GT up north but a tad too far for us me thinks Very Happy Wink
