Hi there...was sitting looking at Sadie tonight and I thought I saw a piece of sleep in her right eye on the bottom lid.. when I went for a closer look, it wasnt a bit of sleep but the rim of her eye has went pink?? I've had a look in her eye and cant see anything and she's not bothered by it.. any ideas what it could be? thanks in advance.....

Do you mean that the white of her eye is red? Bloodshot?

hi..Sadie is a black lab..
its the actual rim(best way to describe it - its where a woman puts her eyeliner!) of her bottom eye/eyelid that has went pinkish, which is why I thought it was a piece of sleep... her eye isnt bloodshot..

It's unlikely that lower lid has changed colour. (It can change to almost grey with anaemia) I'm wondering if the third eyelid is visible??? Either way, I would not take chances with eyes. If you are worried then I would pay a call on your vet.
Regards, John

Sadie is currently having her nightly "thundering round the house" so she seems fine and havent noticed her scratching at her eye... cant see a third eyelid... all it is is a small pink bit on the rim of the bottom of her eye (same colour as inside the eye).. if it gets any worse, we'll take her to the vets on Monday...

All dogs, and quite a few other animals have a third eyelid. It's more of a membrane that the skin of a "Normal" eyelid. But it is also prone to various problems (most of which would not apply in this case). Conjunctivitis often shows first in the third eyelid and that's my thoughts here. But obviously, without being able to see it that is only a guess. Check tomorrow to see if the white of the eye is still clear or if it has started to get bloodshot.
