Hi Everyone,
Lily is now approaching 7 months and I am delighted to have finally found a place where she can run free, away from any danger, in our local woodland park. There is a vast dog run area where dogs are allowed 'off lead' where Lily can explore to her hearts content.
Lily, in typical Lab fashion, runs to greet any other dogs that catch her eye, at 7 months she just wants to play and hopes for a chase and I have to say I am appalled at the amount of dog owners that chase her away as she approaches. Mad One dog owner even hit his dog over the face with a leather lead as it tried to play with Lily. Evil or Very Mad
I appreciate that not everyone is comfortable with large dogs but Lily is quite small and obviously still a puppy and this is a dog run area!! Surely they should expect to see all dogs running free, it tells you on the sign as you enter the field that dogs WILL be running free!! Mad
If a dog comes over to me I always fuss it and tell Lily to say hello nicely, I really can't believe how intolerant some dog owners are. I hope in time Lily will not try to play with every dog she sees but I believe that this is an important part of socialisation and I don't think that i should have to put her back on her lead every time we see another dog as this will make her wary of other dogs or make her want to chase them all the more.
We are considerate and she does go back on her lead if there are small children around and I always call her back if she does spy another dog (unfortunately she has selective deafness!!)
I just think it's a shame that other owners can't give her a bit of leeway after all their dogs were puppies once too.
Kazmat x

Hi I know what you mean I was taking my 12mth old golden labrador amber for a walk a few weeks ago she went running straight up to a man and his dog at the time he was trying to get his dog on a lead. I called her back but she did not listen. His dog was aggressive towards her and went for her so she ran back to me, whilst I put Amber on the lead the man was patting his dog and saying good dog good dog. Evil or Very Mad This made me very angry I feel no owner should praise a dog when It shows Aggression only if it is protecting it's home or owner. I told the man if your dog behaves in this way it should have a muzzel when off the lead, He did'nt like my comment and told me I should myself should wear a muzzel. Laughing so funny

hi all

i walk my 3 along moreton/leasowe/hoylake beach with my hubby (so he can run after rosze when she disapears..lmao)

i normally walk them seperatly on a few occasions when i have taken rosze (she just turned 12months) there have been a few grumbles from ppl on how she shouldnt run up to them and such like ther was a lady who had 2 yorkies on a lead and i must admit i was to late to stop it..lol.. but rosze being rosze(she was about 8mnths old at the time) went bounding over to say hello and the woman was screaming yes screaming.OOO GET IT AWAY FROM ME SOMEONE HELP ME..melissa (my eldest daughter) was in stiches laughing i had to run over and get rosze this woman was telling me i should control my dog more she could of eating one of her yorkies, i replyed nicely rosze is only a puppy and just wanted to play she would not harm any other dog we have a small dog at home aswell so she knows to play nice but i apolgized anyway and walked rosze away

so from then whenever i see another dog on a lead i try get to rosze first and put her on the lead sometimes if you think about it you dont know why that dog is on the lead it could be aggresive or just plain ol very timid or not return to his owner, 9times out of ten when they pass eachother on the lead the other person will stop and let the 2 dogs have there lil sniff..lol.. or they just walk straigh past ya without even i hello..lol..

to this day she still runs over to anyone who is a potentially fuss pot of her..LOL.. or if she spots another playmate she is off everyone has to give 50/50 they know dogs are off lead on these places so if they dont like it they should not walk there or moan at us for walking htere..lol..

On Corbie's walk recently there was a guy with a dog off the lead. The dog stopped quite a way back from him and as he approached me he said that his dog didn't like other dogs. All I could think was what was this dog doing off of his lead then?!

We have woods at the back of the house, only small but a nice little walk, unfortunatley we also have lots of people walking their dogs through, leaving a mess, but thats another story, lately there has been a couple with a huge pink(yes pink)poodle around a lot,but they dont live on the estate, the other morning we were walking quietly,as Dylan was on the lead, and the poodle came bounding up to us barking and growling like mad,I shouted stop, and a man came up and grabbed it,no apology or nothing,so i told him if he was going to walk on our eatate he should muzzle the damn thing,he just walked off,a few nights later same thing happened, only it was a woman,so i told her to muzzle it as it was the second time in a few days,Did i have him she asked,no i said a bloke did,so what the f*** was i complaining to her for then, and if my dog was on a lead then it deserves all it gets as there must be something wrong with it to be on a lead in the first place, nice lady!,dont think so somehow.

We have a nice forest woodland walk just across from our house where i walk with Leo.
This is a very common place for others to take their dogs too, but there are always the selected few who are just not nice!
In the few months i have had Leo i have encountered a lot of horrible people!
Because we are training Leo to walk to heal at the moment I keep him on lead most of the time during our walks. I never mind other dogs coming over to say "hello" and sometimes i'll let Leo off the lead to have a play with the other dog, provided the other owner agrees. But there are some really nasty ones, who have their dog off the lead but their dogs are just not friendly atall.
I have had a few come over to me and Leo and start barking or growling at Leo, and with Leo being only 19 weeks he gets a shock! He just wants to play and bounces about.
The owner comes over, smacking and shouting at the dog sinse me and Leo are standing there frozen with a growling snarling dog at our feet!
These dogs should not even be off the lead.
Its not the dogs fault though, its the owners!! Evil or Very Mad

Everyone seems pretty nice where I've started taking Cole, we've only been twice but both times I've made friends with another family. This last time there was a group who were a tad tipsy but that can be expected on a beach where I live. The first time we met a couple with two labs and they ended up fetching together. Lab owners are always the best people. Wink
