HI,

I wonder if anyone could help before we take him to the vets for the usual big bill.
My lab pup who is now 8 months old is sick every evening about 5.30.
Nothing comes up other than a little bile. He seems to have no other problems he is always playing and has plenty of energy.

What time is the feed before that? Could it be that he is just really hungry, as I know my old girl is sick and gets a gurgly tum if she gets really hungry?

What do you feed him? How much? How often?

How long has this been going on for?

What have you tried so far?

Ian

I am sure it is nothing to worry about, what food do you give?

Archie used to be sick every day but he would throw up his whole dinner, after lots of tests we found out that he had a food allergy that was making his tummy inflamed. We changed to Burns chicken and brown rice and his tummy settled.

You could try feeding some chicken and rice for a few days and see if it still happens or feed 3 small meals a day which has been moistened.

Sometimes going to the vet is the best thing as it puts your mind at rest as it is horrible when our labs are unwell

Hope it sorts itself out

Jackie and Archie

My first instinct would be to go with Jules on the hungry front - we recently took the pups out to a show and missed a feed because of the distance being travelled. We were out somewhat longer than originally anticipated Embarassed - both girls were bringing up a little bile when they got home - quickly resolved with a meal and not had a problem since.

Hi again

He is now on quantum puppy food which has been on for a few months now. He is on two meals a day one in the morning at 7.00 am and the other at about 7.30pm after his evening walk. He is on two 300g feeds which is a little more than the reccomended amount aswell as a small amount used for his training.

I would move his evening meal forward to 5pm. The gap between meals through the day is too long in my honest opinion.

If that is not possible, go back to three meals for a while, reducing morning and evening meals by 100g and feeding him at lunch time.

It sounds as if you are feeding him enough for sure, at 9 months I usually put mine on adult food, because its not as rich, you do this gradually of course.

Good Luck

Ian

I was only going to echo Ian....Switch him to adult food and perhaps go back to giving him a little bit of lunch. Wink

I agree 12 1/2 hours is a long time to go with no food especially when youre a growing pup......praps you could do some midday training when some cocktail sausages, cheese, ham & chicken could be used as rewards...this would kill two birds with one stone.....line the poor mites tum and learn some tricks Smile
