Hi Mands,

Blaze is 16 months and had his OCD op about 5 months ago.

How old is Sadie now?

Sadie is 2.5 now!
I can honestly count on one hand the amount of times we've had to give her metacam (we keep some in the cupboard just incase)... its normally after she's had a really really long day or she's turned awkwardly and hurt that leg...
Both the specialist and the vet told me that green lipped mussel was fine to give and whether or not it worked they didnt know, but it certainly wouldnt do her any harm... I believe it works, its very rare that she limps now, although she has her own quirky walk Wink

Yeah Mands - know the quirky walk well - I always used to say Sam did the best impression of Marilyn Monroe ever seen!!!!!

Have to say you have all just pricked my conscience - I gave Neo the glucosamine from the time he was a babe until Sam died and then i stopped... I really must ask the vet if I can restart it. This is because Neo has such dietary issues that he is allowed nothing but prescription food currently - try telling that to the barmaid who thought it would be lovely to give him a ham sandwich as a tit bit - vet not impressed, Neo was though!!! And came to no harm as a result!

Hi Eve,

I took your advice and contacted Royal Canin and spoke to one of thein nutritionists who just happens to live locally. She was really helpful and said that the food I am already feeding Blaze is basically the same as the Hill's food our vet recommended. She also said that as Royal Canin contains glucosamine already, it may upset the balance if I give Blaze additional tablets. I think I am going to stick with Royal Canin as generally the food seems to suit both my dogs and am going to chat to my vet again about the glucosamine tablets and cartrophen injections.

I always keep metacam at home incase he seems to be in too much pain, but like Mands above I have only ever had to use it a couple of times.

Thanks for all the good advice everyone and I will keep you all posted on our progress.

Cheers Smile
