Well as some may know mine have all got symptoms of some sort of virus Sad
Clear runny noses, sniffing, sneezing ,temp and yesterday two coughing slighty after waking.
If it is KC how soon does a cough appear if at all. Vet is being brilliant with advice but has said to wait and see as it could just be a nasty virus and not KC. Having never had anything to do with KC am completely in the dark Rolling Eyes

Sorry..........I have, luckily, no experience of KC, only to say that it can vary between dogs and that while some may suffer enormously, others, even within the same household, may only have mild symptoms

I hope it isn't KC but if not, then they aren't going to suffer much and get over whatever it is very quickly

hi

well i can tell you how quick my dogs got KC

met jasper at the pound with charlie brought jasper home same day and within 2 days rosze had KC although she did not have the runny nose

jasper had the runny nose and eyes but his kc cough was made worse by his heart murmer,

first thing in the morning when they wake its cough hack cough it may settle down during the day but any excitment it starts them of with the couck hack cough also heat not to hot or again this makes it worse..
and night time gawd rosze seemed worse at night,
brandy didnt get it although she has had it once before when she was about 2 i think...

i think all my dogs were grounded for roughly 4-6 weeks they were on tabs but to be honest it just has to run its course it can be distressing for the dog and you just have to try keep them calm

hope that helped xx

The cough is about your first indication. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that this is not KC, but another virus. (Although if you are giving something like Benylin you could be masking the cough?)

Regards, John

Thanks for replies .............they definately all have something and the same. Maggie is very subdued today and the other two are bit off but nothing anyone who doesn't know them would notice. So will play the waiting game and hopefully just a mild dose of whatever it is they have .

Am not giving them anything just letting nature take it's course whilst watching them like a hawk Wink Vet sems to think could just be an upper respitory infec..........will wait and watch. Wink

Kennel Cough is a hard hacking cough. Without ever seeing it before you would know it! If this is the second and they are not coughing at the slightest excertion then I think you can say it's not KC. Obviously no one can diagnose at a distance without seeing and hearing the dogs though so it's all about "Wait and see."

That would sound about right. Time will tell though. I'd keep them away from other dogs for the time being though, just in case it's infectious.

Hi one of mine has KC a couple of months ago its a three week incubation period, the vet gave antibiotics he was a little bit under the weather with ocasional coughing which sounds like they are chocking and a bit of a runny nose, but i think it can be worse for young puppies and older dogs
