Ruby damaged her tendons last year - scared the life out of me but she was older at 18 months. I took her straight to the vets - didnt want to do anything wrong. Think I rested her for about a week tbh and binned the tennis ball totally unless in water as the jumping on it (whomping hehe) caused the injury. We quit agility too to allow it to heal as tendons are a bugger. Hope its something and nothing xxx

Do you need to worry less about a front leg limp rather than a back leg limp?

I think any limp is cause for concern TBH, but most disappear with a few days rest, but if it doesn't, then thats the time to start really worrying ( says she, who worries 'bout most things with the doggies as soon as they occur Embarassed Wink )

Both of mine have had injuries.....like Vickie's Ruby, Molly damaged either her tendons or a muscle in her shoulder at 6 months old, it took forever to heal, although, I think I was too keen on the return to normal exercise in reality..........Izzy tore her cruciate ligament (back leg) and this has been a nightmare Crying or Very sad but I've learnt, that rest means total rest as far as the dogs are concerned, and I do try not to worry too much unless I see it continuing after a couple of days...........

Kirsty, if Bosun seems to be fine by tomorrow, I'd still rest him for a few more days and then start with maybe a 5 minute walk at the weeekend for a couple of days and build him back up slowly.

Chances are, he just overdone it on Saturday, maybe lots of twisting/jumping etc....was he playing with the puppy next door at all?

hi Kirsty,

I suspect that if you went to the vets they'd only tell you to rest him and may give you some painkilling anti-inflammatries....................why not give them a ring and maybe book an appointment for tomorrow just in case he is no better?

.. Small update,

Bosun is still limping slightly today about the same as yesterday ... I did ring the Vet and they said to keep doing what im doing .. i.e no walks limit excersize .. but if i wanted to take him for painkillers i could do so tomorow ....
I told them i would wait and see what he was like tomorow and then nip in ...
my daughter has just come home from school and bosun jumped up and then started whining like mad and went to lay down under the stairs ..... I managed to get him to walk and its still the same, but this is the first time he has whined with it .........

think ill ring and get him in first thing ...
