Thanks for all the advice. What quantities of benylin should i give and how many a day? Will she have less chance of catching it again now that she has had a dose?
Not sure on the dosage on Benylin as I don't use it. I am afraid I have never really seen any benefit in using it I think it just makes the owner feel better cos they are at least giving them something but yes your girl should have some immunity for the future. Although as all the strains are slightly different she might still get it but in a milder form if that makes sense.
- tablesspoon of it morning and night, in some warm milk
- follow the doseage on the bottle for children
what I have done with Rouble is give him a teaspoon morning and night, using a syringe.
Tried mixing it with warm milk and putting it in his bowl but he turned his nose up at it and tipped the bowl over - lovely stickly mess on my rug in the kitchen
From the sites i have been on it looks like it might be 2-3 weeks, however i have given benylin to my dog and she appears to be settling down a bit already. I might keep it up for a couple of more days as see how things go from there. She is now around her 7th day of intermitent coughing. I suppose it is like everything else, some dogs can cope with it better than others, depending on how bad the strain of virus is.
The benylin soothes the throat so reducing the coughing. But the virus is still there and others may still catch it from her so dont cut the isolation too soon.
