I ran Que to the vet in a panic this week as she had a swelling on the outer side of her left front (half) paw. Need less to say I was worried about it. My eldest son had taken her for a walk last sunday in the fields behind our home and told me that she had limped. I was away on holiday and the dogs were being lookad after at home by their nanny.
The vet is quite sure that this is not a return of her cancer, but that she has sprained her "ankle/wrist" running around on the uneven soil. She never lets up, and has even joined in a rabbit-chase recently. Because of her missing toes in the middle, her weight distribution is not as it would normally be on the two toes left, and he's sure that she has probably twisted her paw while running around. She's now on reduced exercise and painrelief for a few days.
Who would have thought this time last year that a dog who couldn't stand up properly through lack of space, would now be forced to rest because she's been overdoing it in the rough and tumble of our daily walks. I'm almost "pleased" that she's had an exercise injury if you understand what I mean. It shows she's living life to the full, that she's overdone it!
Awwww good old Que though Shirley, she`s living life as its meant to be by a Lab, good runs chasing bunnies and anything else that`ll run away from you
Hope her paw heals soon and she can go back to those wascally wabbits
I can imagine what you mean Shirley and it does seem almost a great thing that she has managed injured herself through exuberance! I'm sure after the rest she will be as good as new and raring to go again!
