I'm rather surprised to be fair, as Alfie was wormed 3 weeks ago with a tablet from the vets, but last night he did a poo and there was a dead worm in there. Hand on heart my other dogs have never had worms - I have wormed them twice a year as a precaution but never seen any evidence of any worms, and I never saw anything after Alfie had his worming tablet.

So I guess I now need to worm them all. But is it OK for Alfie to have another worming tablet so soon after the last one? The vet told me once every 6 weeks until he's 6mths old then once every 3 months.

Don't worry too much, just worm him again. I think these days when you worm them any worms have disintegrated by the time they are passed out, so you rarely see any anyway.

I can't see it doing him any harm to worm him again so soon. I know I had one pup years ago that was sooooo full of worms that I wormed her once a week for a month.

Also just because he has worms doesn't mean your other dogs have worms too. Wink

I use Four Seasons Anti-parasitic which is a homeopathic worming solution and was told that if the dog had worms they would come out squiggling. Not had that yet but today is his day for taking it Smile and tomorrow.

I am pretty sure that I used to worm puppies every three weeks until they were 6 months old.

OH has been given instructions to get wormers for all three doggies today from the vets... Daisy and Leo are about due for their next lot anyway so best do them all together. Yukky things though aren't they - won't be sorry to get rid of them!!!

Vicki,
It's indeed best to worm them all. Finding the worm in the poo could mean there are still eggs inside. It is no guarantee that all eggs are gone/killed. It doesn't harm Alfie to worm again after three weeks.
