Chalky, thank you - I got your reply. Yes keep us posted what you got.
On a deeper note - not third degree - promise i know in France as one of the list members on this thread has found, its hard to get your dog 'confirmed' as being of the quality to be bred from. You obviously did this - but you sound as if you might be british or of an english speaking origin? How did you find the confirmation process? Do you think they looked at the right features for our breed? Did the smallprint overtake the bigger picture?

Hi Di,
Yes I am British and proud of it!
I found the 'confirmation' process to be very interesting. I chose to use my vet, but some people like to go to a dog show and use the judge judging the breed, I have been with a French couple to a show and found the whole process very long winded. They took their Chow. It took allday! The same process took 30mins at my vet! It was more personal and friendly! I have a very good looking vet!!!! Sorry not what you asked.
The vet did comment on the size of my dog, she is not big and stocky but small and perfect! This was not a problem he passed her with flying colours. He measured her, watch her gate as I trotted up and down in my best high heels and short skirt!! no not really just joking. He checked all the regular stuff you would expect. He mentioned that she was of 'working stock' and bred to be fast. I asked about the French Lab. and his opinion was that they were more of a show dog, but with the English breeding Labs. in France this was changing. I am not an expert and don't know how accurate his comment was.
As with everything in France the paper work is always the biggest part with loads of forms to sign etc, etc.
He also checked the puppies when they were born and gave them a great bill of health.
I have found the French Lab. to have a bigger head and overall more stocky than my English Lab. I would describe my French Lab. Sam to be 'old fashioned' style, short legs and stocky frame with a longer coat than Tarka. This comparison is just based on my own English Lab. Tarka, I am aware that not everyone will agree with my observations.
When I figure out how to put photos on this site I will post a photo, and look forward to any comments you may have!
