ok so diva is only just over 4 months but i want to be prepared i have 2 males in the house both are done what will be the best way to deal with a season they all have to live in the same house theres not really anything i can do about that i do have stairgates n diva sleeps upstairs in a crate n i def wont be taking her out any other advice n advice on how best to cope in doors during her season would be apprechiated
Depends how she copes tbh - but 6 months is 'probably' not that common in labs, as bigger breeds seem to have their first season when they are a bit older. My girl Rosie was 9 months, Lily was almost 14 months, and Tots was almost 11 months. So you see you may have a bit more breathing space, though I know some peeps on here have girls who have come in earlier!
She will probably wonder what on earth is going on and they don't always 'clean up' after themselves to start with, so you could get plenty of staining, so make sure you have stuff to clean carpets etc - just a good wipe and it will be gone! My eldest girl looks after the other two when they are in, though saying that I hardly knew Lily had her last season as she was so clean, she never left a 'blob' anywhere. Don't know how your males will react as I haven't got any, so even though they may sniff her or probably try to mount her you know they can't 'do the deed!'. Obviously discourage any mounting especially if she is young when she comes in cos you don't want her to sustain any damage to muscles etc. Good luck, it should be ok
thankyou so much i know i probably have afair bit of time left before it actually happens shes my first bitch n ive read lots of books but its nice to hear the real side of it
As to when. Anytime now! Mandy was my longest and went to 13 months, but at the other end of the spectrum, both Amy and Anna managed about 6 months. All the others were nearer to 9 months.
What to do, you are going to have to play things very much by ear. You MAY be lucky and the boys take no notice. But that would be very lucky. Personally I would get a child gate and start practising seperating them for short periods, so you are ready when the time comes.
thanks john i have stairgates in front room already n i seperate them already mainly when their play fighting gets OTT so its not a case of strict seperation see how the boys react n if they pester her keep them apart at the moment divas taken to humping them at every given oppertunity

On the other hand you may have a girl like mine and still be waiting at almost 18 months old
Your castrated boys will mount and tie her given half a chance, the only thing is their desire may be a fraction lower and they won't get her pregnant, so keep them seperated from her, even if its only a baby gate, through the middle two weeks. She will egg them on too, so its not all one way traffic.

When Cindy had seasons she was a real little tart!!, she`d stick her bum right in the faces of my two big boys neither of whom were interested in her much to her
thanks everyone its not really a problem keeping them seperated i have enclosed front n back gardens so i can take her out for a wee separate watching her of course n have stairgates downstairs so i can swap them around n still keep a whole room between them i can see her now egging them on shes already got them wrapped round her little paw the little minx
I have two girls who have just been in season one after the other, and two entire boys. Each girl has just spent a couple of weeks in one of the outbuildings with their own bed, away from the others, to be walked separately.
TBH, I think they both really enjoyed the peace and quiet away from the puppy
They are all tucked up now in their kennel, and that's Talla on day 20 today. You must know when your girl stops being a tart and turns into something from '28 days later' though to avoid any major trauma
