Hi all
I wondered if anyone has any experience of Wolff Parkinson White syndrome please ? Put simply, it effects the heart and causes it to race.
I have been devastated this afternoon to find out that Tommy, my two year old, is suspected to have this condition. My Vet is referring us to Mike Martin in Kenilworth (Specialist) for further tests to establish exactly what is wrong - but I know you'll all understand my desperation to know more.
I understand the actual physical problem as my vet is brilliant and has explained but what I don't know is what it means to live with. Apparently it is known to effect young labs particularly so thought someone might know more .....?

Thanks for your support - I was feeling bad and alone yesterday as of the four dogs I have at the moment (1 fostered) three are now ill and OH working away !
Tommy was restless all evening and obviously uncomfortable but the beta blockers the vet prescribed kicked in and his heart rate seemed to slow about 11ish so he got some sleep. He has been very clingy all day (not like him) and the vet has told me to rest him with no exercise until we know more.
He has an appointment on Monday at 9:15 with the Specialist in Kenilworth and my vet has spoken with him today to make sure he has all the info. Specialist says this syndrome is difficult to diagnose and wonders if it is perhaps something else - he may have to wear an ECG for up to 5 days, but am trying not to jump the gun and assume bad things.
He is such a sweet boy and is the reason I am able to foster as he is so kind to the foster dogs who come to stay. He shows them around the house and garden, takes them all his toys one by one until they fancy something and puts up with his "Mummy" being preoccupied elsewhere without any jealousy.
Fingers crossed then for him please for Monday as he has "looked after" eight other dogs in the year we've had him and is a very special lad.
I am so sorry. Good luck for Monday - at least you are seeing the specialist quickly - and at least your vet sounds interested and concerned which is a bonus.
i know this is such a hard time, you must be so devastated and worried about your boy. My thoughts are with you. If you want to PM me feel free to do so -
Take care and give your gentle boy lots of love and gentle play to make up for missing his walkies...
