Hi all,
I've posted a few times about our pup Brody who needs THR when he's 1 due to severe hip dysplasia. Well over the last few days he really seems to have taken a turn for the worse and it seems to be causing him a lot of pain. He's only 7 months and we don't think he'll hold out for 5 whole months as he is. He's on lots of painkillers, rimadyl and cosequin and yesterday we took him to the vets for a painkiller injection and one to help his joints. We had decided yesterday to commit wholly to him having his op and if it meant expensive injections etc for the 5 months then so be it. As I've said before we are insured but only for about £2000. However this morning he seems to be in just as much pain, and we don't think he's any better. He's also whimpering a lot which he hasn't done before and it is just heart breaking. We are devastated to say the least. But he can't go on like this and neither can we. So we have a big decision to make today. He's only a baby and we love him so much, but he is having such a poor quality of life at the moment. I hope you think we are doing the right thing if we decide have him pts. We feel we have let him down so much...
Don't know what to say to you.........am so so sorry as others have said you will do the right thing and i to admire you for thinking of Brody and not your selves. Massive hug from us to you and yours at this very sad and hard time.
Please remember we're all here for you in whatever you decide is best for your Brody
How desperately sad for you all. My thoughts are with you and Brody. Is there no way the operation can be bought forward? (Sorry- I don't know much about the procedure) Does the vet have anything else to offer to help control the pain?
