Is this insurance ok or is there anything I need to look out for or any bad experiences please ?
I know M&S are the best but they have quoted me more than double the petplan quote ( Im sure this is because they do other insurance too,car ,home ect . and Hull is blacklisted with a lot of insurance companies due to the floods )
cheers Smile

We are with Sainsburys they are good, they pay £6,500 per illness, most companies are good but make sure it covers their lifetime and not end after a year etc.I think most companies start off cheap to get you to join then it goes up,i think pet plan and marks and spencers are really good.We have had to claim loads due to allergies,so glad we had insurance

I am in the middle of a particularly bad experience with Pet Plan at the moment that is still not resolved but when I posted here there were lots of positive comments from people who have had great service. I have the premium plan that gives lifetime cover but I do think it is expensive!

Oh dear Geraldie ,sorry your having probs Sad
Are they a 'no go 'then ?
Im pretty sure the buget has lifetime too ? just has a cap of 4 grand a year where as the next level cover has no cap ?

So far its the cheepest quote we have ,all ohter companies are quoting in the £400's + where as Petplan was only £250 .Should have known ther would be a snag Sad Guess you get what you pay for ?

The only thing is that if it is capped at £4000,00 a year, what happens if your dog has a hip replacement or serious illness that costs £7,000 all in one go?
I know so many people who dont have pet insurance and i wonder how they would afford it if their pet was involved in a car accident etc.Archie has bad skin problems due to allergies and inflammatory bowel disease, his treatment is £113 a month paid for by insurance,so one day we will have to start paying ourselves for this.
I also know another dog owner who spent weeks dithering over which insurance to go for,and in that time her dog swallowed a pin and had to have a £500 operation,so while it is good to shop around,it is a good idea not to wait too long before sorting it.Good luck

Jackie and Archie

We had Jet insured through Tesco budget insurance renewable yearly, it basically wasn't worth it as he would have needed about 10k of operations over a period of 18 months.

Shadow is with PetPlan on their top cover, it's only about twice what we were paying for Tesco but with lifetime un-capped cover. From a peace of mind point of view, if anything does go wrong with Shadow at least we know he'll be covered for his lifetime. So many renewable policies will not cover what you've claimed for at the renewall.

A friends dog (a while ago) had a problem with his left eye, the treatment was paid for by the insurance. A few years after though, he had a totally unrelated problem with his right eye, the insurance wouldn't pay out because they'd already paid out for an eye problem.

i am with pet plan and have the 17 pound something a month if i could go back i would have had the unlimted cover although i wasnt aware they did that one for something like 4 pound more.we are now trying to raise the extra cash for our pups hip replacement as the plan only covers us for 4k,otherwise they have been good always paid with out question for her treatment.I have also herd m&s was the bset plan but as you say thats a lot more so maybe best with petplans unlimted cover as my friend has had no problems with them with her pups treatment and she has had afew things wrong bless her hope this gives you any help love kelly and tia xx
